The new year is off to a great start, and my administration is gearing up for a successful 2023.

As I have shared with my team at City Hall, this will be a year of execution and implementation. In my final year as your mayor,  I will focus on finishing existing projects while prioritizing public safety, housing, parks, street repairs, and community facilities.

We also plan to continue programs that address illegal dumping, reduce homelessness and finish 3,000 single-family homes.

Every groundbreaking and grand opening will be bigger, better, and bolder!

Significant signs of our early success include unveiling the amazing new Alief Community Center and the new Sunnyside Health and Multi-service Center. In January, we held ribbon cuttings for both centers, and hundreds of people joined us to celebrate.

In Alief, the 70,000-square-foot center at 11903 Bellaire Blvd. offers services from three City of Houston departments: Houston Health Department, Houston Parks and Recreation, and Houston Public Library. The beautiful new facility offers a swimming pool, walking paths, soccer fields, a skate park, and more amenities.

The Sunnyside Multi-Service Center represents the first combined health and multi-service center in the Sunnyside community, offering a new state-of-the-art facility to support the underserved community better.

Located at 4410 Reed Rd., it offers more than 57,000 square feet of combined community service. Services include immunization, dental, family planning, sexual health, tuberculosis, a Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) center, and programs for mental health, new mothers, and seniors.

Both facilities are in Complete Communities and represent an investment in historically under-resourced and underserved neighborhoods.

We are just getting started on making 2023 a memorable year.

I invite you to join me in investing in your City as we execute and implement my priorities for the City of Houston.
