Last month, Houston hosted its inaugural Fleet Week. More than 1,500 service members—and three ships—visited our region, giving Houstonians a rare opportunity to meet members of the armed forces, tour ships, and attend events across the city. It was a meaningful week that highlighted the dedication of the U.S. Navy, Marines, and Coast Guard.

We closed the week with the Fleet Week Ball, celebrating the service and sacrifice of these men and women. Houston showed up by welcoming our military, showcasing the best of our city, and expressing our deep appreciation. I look forward to building on this success and hosting Fleet Week again.

A Bold Budget for the Future

In early May, I will present the FY27 budget. It will include the most significant structural reforms in Houston’s history. It is designed to bring long-term stability to our finances. This is not a one-time fix. It is a sustainable approach that ends the cycle of annual budget shortfalls and uncertainty.

Houston continues to grow, and the cost of delivering essential services, from public safety to infrastructure, has grown with it. At the same time, property tax caps have limited the City’s ability to keep pace. Under my administration, we have reduced spending, improved efficiency, and made tough choices. But efficiency alone is no longer enough.

This budget takes the next step: a modern, sustainable plan to fund core services and protect what Houstonians rely on without raising property taxes. It ensures Houston remains strong, stable, and prepared for the future.

I will share additional details in the coming days.
